Explore Annapurna Circuit Trek

Annapurna Circuit trek is a trek within the mountain ranges of central Nepal.  It crosses two different river valleys and encircles the Annapurna Massif, the world’s 10th-highest peak. The Annapurnas are close to Pokhara, the lake city which includes Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake, etc. The trek takes you around the Manang and Mustang regions. It is one of the most popular trekking regions of Nepal. This trek takes you from the forested valleys at an elevation of 900m to the Thorung La Pass, the highest point of the trek at 5,416m.

River Valleys

The Annapurna Circuit trek goes through two major river valleys including Marshyangdi River Valley and Kali Gandaki River Valley. Marshyangdi River Valley has the cultural settlement of Chame, Pisang, and Manang. Kali Gandaki River Valley is located between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. It has one of the deepest George on Earth.

Permits

To explore Annapurna Circuit, you will need these permits:

Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) – NRs 2000

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit – NRs 3000

You can get these permits from Nepal Tourism Board Office in Kathmandu or Pokhara. If you are trekking with Nepal Trekking Routes, they will arrange the permits for you.

Best time to trek

Annapurna Circuit trek can be done throughout the year if you are prepared for any weather conditions. In Nepal, spring and autumn are considered the peak trekking seasons. Here is a brief description of each season:

Spring (March-May): Spring is one of the best time to trek in Nepal. The weather is calm and moderate. Temperature is comfortable for trekking. This season is for blooming of flowers including rhododendrons and other wildflowers. 

Autumn (September to November): Autumn is another popular season for trekking. The crystal clear skies offer better view of mountains. The weather is mild and rainfall is less frequent.

Arrive at Kathmandu

After you arrive in Kathmandu, you will check in at a hotel.

Kathmandu to Syange

Travel from Kathmandu to Syange by private vehicle or shared jeep. It will take 8-10 hour journey through the countryside of Nepal.

Syange to Dharapani

You will start your trek from Syange, cross a large bridge, and enter the Manang district. You will trek across the village of Kodo and reach Dharapani.

Dharapani to Chame

From Dharapani, you will trek to Chame while enjoying the stunning views of the mountains.

Chame to Pisang

You will trek from Chame to Pisang with excellent views of Annapurna and Pisang Peak.

Pisang to Manang

You will trek from Pisang to Manang. 

Acclimatization day at Manang

You will have an acclimatization day in Manang. On this day you can take a hike to either Bhojo gumba or Gangapurna Lake.

Manang to Letdar

From Manang, you will trek towards Letdar passing through Yak Kharka. You will observe alpine meadows where horses and yaks graze.

Letdar to Thorang Phedi

You will trek from Letdar to Thorang Phedi, the last village before Thorong La.

Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass to Muktinath

Finally, you will reach one of the highest passes in the world, Thorong La Pass. By crossing the pass, you will trek towards Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La Pass.

Muktinath to Jomsom

You will trek downhill from Muktinath towards Jomsom passing through Kagbeni and Kaligandaki corridor.

Jomsom to Pokhara

Depending on your preference, you will travel from Jomsom to Pokhara by flight or vehicle.

Pokhara to Kathmandu

From Pokhara, you will travel to Kathmandu by flight or vehicle. 

Final Departure

Finally, you will conclude the journey and take a flight back to your home.
